    Filler Putty

Got hold of a tube of Vallejo Filler Putty.

Used a number of fillers & none have I found to be brilliant. This is the best so far by far.

Comes in a tube with a long nozzle. This gives out a strip about a 1mm wide depends how quickly you move along the piece to be filled. It is very soft & very fine.

Easy to fire into a gap or wing joint for instance. Then easy, using a small spatular, to press into the joint. Finish smooth with kitchen roll or the finger. Sticks well to skin. Dry in about 30 mins or less depending on the ambient temperature.

Drys hard but with easy manipulation. Easy to sand & when applied as above not much sanding & in a lot of cases needs no extra work. Does not flake & sticks like glue. Sands to a very thin finish. Providing it has not set to much Vallejo Air Brush cleaner will clean up & further smooth. If you use it make sure you clean tools as it sticks to anything.

As far as I can see it does not soften with water or the Air Brush cleaner.

I was watching come dine with me that might have had something to do with it, last week I was watching the gadget show and thought I would enter the competition for only £1.50 + standard network message cost I sent the text then realised I was watching catch-up and it ended 2 weeks previous, doh!!

What is more sad, John, was that you were watching "Come Dine with me".

Only nuts like me are subjected by their wives to watching the most bizarre programe on television about the most bizarre people in Britain cooking, at least most of the time, rubbish. Although to hear an Englishman pronounce "Fruit de Mer" in English recently was comic.

It's a funny old game, I found Vallejo filler to be a bit powdery, like polyfilla

Interesting as I looked at other opinions on other forums a little whiles ago..

Before the current product there was another which was in a small bottle just as the Vallejo paints. The newer product is in a tube & has a long dispenser tube fitted. The description made did not seem to fit my experience with the present product. Certainly not powdery & it is best to tidy up the filling before it goes off as it is jolly hard.

Be interesting to hear others with their experience of this present product.

So it is all coming out most watch Come Dining (Wining I like that).

It's funny how everyone develops their favourites. I haven't tried the Vallejo one so I can't comment on that. I use the Tamiya putty which I like whereas I have a friend who swears by the Squadron putties which I hate. Another case of each to their own I guess. If you are happy with the product you are using why change? It shouldn't stop you trying other things,I may well give this Vallejo stuff a go.

                            Cheers
