Green Stuff leaf punch

Welcome to my product review of the Green Stuff World leaf punch!

The reason that I wanted something like this is because I became dissatisfied with the commercial products on the market. Specifically their value for money or lack of it. Most items I've bought only contain 60 - 100 leaves at best; I'm reminded of the horror when I received a pack of Ammo leaves...  30-odd for around £5!!

So finding a product that could allow me to make as many leaves as I wanted seemed ideal. I bought this from Green Stuff via ebay,  but you can go directly to their website:

Online hobby shop specialized in wargames, scale models, and board games. Green Stuff World.

Green Stuff are based in Spain, but it only took a week to reach me. The price on ebay was £9.95 + £2.60 postage. There's a lot of interesting things on there. The leaf punches come in different shapes and scales. I'll be buying their 1/35 lime punch to add to the one reviewed here.

So let's see the thing! Hmm kinda small.. but perfectly formed! The actual punch is made of metal which allows for nice clean leaves & should prove to be durable.

Green Stuff recommend drying out leaves first as they'll retain their colour better. I picked up a few that were in the garden, popped them into a book to keep them flat & left them overnight. Here's one of them

To make the process easier, I cut a leaf into square sections as shown here

Using the thing is simplicity itself!
Place your leaf in the slot

    Press down

    Et voila! 4 tiny leaves

For an idea of scale, here they are next to a 10ml Tamiya pot

So after a few minutes of pressing, I've ended up with this little lot

For actual scale purposes,  here's some shots next to 1/35 scale items. Firstly a WIP KV-2

And next to an unfinished German soldier

Overall I'm very impressed with this product. It's money saving potential is huge, as is your personal choice. If you're building a dio & need some different colour leaves, just nip into the garden or street!

Thanks for taking the time to read this review.

Thanks for your comments about the KV & the figure Paul. Hopefully I'll finish the tank next year in Terry's diorama GB.

These are the same as the RP Toolz ones I stock, I'm guessing someone has found a source of them and own branding

I'm not sure who came first John. I saw the Green Stuff ones before you started stocking the RP ones.

                              Hi ..
Has anyone thought of treating the leaves first in glycerin. If some were treated when still green they would retain the green, looking as if they had just been rip off a tree. Do older leaves is ones that have started to decay like the ones in the opening photos.
What I don't want to happen is for them to all become brittle and go brown .
                              As thoughts on this.
