I quite agree Bob - they are the ones to beat...

I've just gone down the MRP rabbit hole since they've now got a descent German tank selection - and I was also able to buy the Swedish Airforce paints for my J35 Draken.
My recent discovery of Alclad 2 made me convinced to try MRP as a total replacement for all my other paints... Wish me luck

The question is is it better than the Mr Hobby Acqueous Range and the Mr Hobby Mr Color Lacquers?

Having used both the Mr Hobby Aqueous and the standard MRP, my opinion is that the MRP are better for airbrush use. I have not used Mr Hobby Color so can't comment on that. I would say the gap is narrower between MRP and MR Hobby than between MR Hobby and Vallejo Model Air which is my least favourite of the three.

They give a better finish, are easier to spray and are smooth enough to use decals directly which i would not do with MR Hobby. I also find the airbrush cleaning easier with MRP.

To add to Barry's information I have now used Microsol and Microset directly on to MRP with no effect.

Some very good info there. One small detail is missing though. (or I missed it). Colour accuracy.
I can imagine that this could be a reason that the AFV colours are lagging behind. Ask 10 people what colour a British AFV is/was, you will get 10 different replies.
If they spray as well as Vallejo, I might give them a go. If the Colours are a good match, I will give them a go.

Ian - colour accuracy is as good as any. After all there are many different interpretations of camo colours, not just for British AFVs, and none may be wrong.... often it’s a matter of what people are used to.

I remember when Humbrol 30 was thought to be a good match for RAF dark green and RLM71 as well!!

They don’t spray as well as Vallejo, they spray ten times better than Valllejo and that is from a one-time avid Model Air fan.

I don't know how many times I read the most excellent article and thought yes or no. But last nights episode with tip drying Vallejo might just have just made my mind up. At least I can use all my Vallejo for brush work.

You will find that the water based Vallejo paints are a good partner to solvent based MRP for detail brushing as the lay down well on an MRP base.
