    Zoukie-Mura 1/48 F4S Phantom

I bought this kit last weekend for £64.99 .And after examining the contents of the large box, I think you get a lot of kit for your money. Moulding is flawless and details very sharp. Engraving to my eyes is just right. Unlike the recent Academy kit with its one piece fuselage, this one is more conventional with the usual two halves. But Zoukie-Mura have tackled the problem of the fuselage seam by providing an insert for the spine panels. This does away with the need to rescribe lost detail , like the multitude of circular fuel tank access panels. The intakes are moulded as separate parts. Just like every other Phantom kit I've ever built. I'm currently building the italeri F4E and Hasegawa F4K. Both kits have needed quite a bit of work to get rid of the joins in these areas. So it remains to be seen how good the fit of these parts is on the Zoukie-Mura kit. Cockpit and wheel bay details are very comprehensive and superbly done. The ejection seat is nice, but there are no seat straps. Two engines with full intakes are included. A first in a Phantom kit in this scale to my knowledge. Some parts like the radome and leading edges are moulded as a single part.Very impressive. Instructions are very good and there's a nicely done decal sheet.Only one markings option. But it's a nice one.As a Phantom fan,I'm really impressed with this kit and can't wait to start it.

Looks nice Dave. I love the Phantom too and built the Academy 1/48 scale version a while back. This looks better and I will keep an eye on this thread...

As a Phantom fan - have you heard about HK Models bringing out a Spey engined F4 in 1/32?

Well, if its as good as it looks, I reckon that's a fair price. I've had a hankering to build a Phantom for years, after living in the flightpath of Bentwaters through the 60s and 70s - man they were loud, especially at the altitude I'm talking about (we were no more than 4 miles from the base!). Having re-ignited my interest in aircraft, I might just build one of thes things! watching with interest

You can't beat a good Phantom, and from what I've seen and read about this one I'ts a good Phantom Dave.

humph. there goes my promiss not to buy any more kits (for a while).

That does look like a nice little spook Dave. Good with the full engine/intakes too. One could be tempted to open a few of the access panels......

Where did you source this kit from Dave?

I bought it off a vendor at the Duxford Battle of Britain airshow called 'Mr Models'. I believe they are based in Birmingham. I buy stuff off them every year at the show
