I also use small stainless steel nuts to agitate the paint.
Apparently the none round shape is better and the stainless steel doesn't degrade and they are cheaper.
Just make sure they are small enough to go through the neck of the plastic bottle
I probably wouldn't recommend them in a glass jar !

          Hi guys

the jigsaw works really well but is noisy so I have to use it in workshop which is a bit of a pain. Here is my new shaker which arrived in today's post. Designed for nail varnish it comes with a number of rubber cups of different sizes so can hold my Vallejo paints by the cap or by the body.

i've tested it and so far it seems ok. Very quiet so I can use it in the lounge, and not bad for the price -we will see how long it lasts ...

Looks interesting Peter, but being a bit thick I can’t quite see how it is used. Could you give a few more details please?

Hi Tim. Here is a photo of it in action. it spins the paint very fast, but with a slight wobble which I think creates a vortex type of movement whihc mixes up the paint.

So it’s a commercial version of Ron’s then....Looks promising for longevity, I think it’s the reversal that causes failure. This one just goes round and round so will experience less wear than if it operated with oscillation.

john - yours is a lot better quality build than mine. i sandwiched the blade between two pieces of plywood and have a compartment each side for the paint. I worked on the basis that twice as much araldite would be better, and having paint on either side of the blade would balance the forces on the blade.

bob - perhaps taping the bottle to an appropriate 'toy' might work!
