IBG 1/35 Otter Light Recconaissance Car - Inbox Review

IBG Models are a Polish manufacturer, they produce a wide range of models in various scales. Maybe not quite mainstream, but getting there.
The Otter was a Canadian made light armoured car based on a Chevrolet Chassis. It was used by Canadian forces in Italy & NW Europe - and also by the RAF Regiment.

Instructions A4 booklet - halftone - which I dislike, they can be very vague compared to line diagrams.

The sprues are very clean & crisp, no flash, no sinks, or ejector pin marks. The ingates are reasonably small, but on some parts excessive in number - 8 on one leaf spring! At first I thought there wasn't much riveting, but it's restrained, but there. A look at some photos of the Otter, and the rivets weren't as prominent as on some other vehicles. Small fret pf PE, but nothing tto worry about. Colours referenced to Vallejo. The whole thing would be improved with line diagram instructions & colour profiles
Looks like a nice model of a relatively unknown vehicle. Mirror Models also made a model of this, but I believe that was more in the line of a short run kit, with resin parts - and more expensive than the IBG!
Availability? Yes, some places have it in stock - at just over £20.
I think I got this in a sale, but I could be wrong................

Thanks for the review Dave and hope you are doing better. I do wonder why you get two sets of tires though. I don't see any difference in them at all.......

I thought that the 4 sprues were identical......................

..........BUT top sprue is 'O', bottom 'N', & careful inspection shows that 'O' has larger hubs! - I reckon the instructions should point out which to use. - but as it's going back into the stash.....................

An interesting looking vehicle. Looks a lot of parts for a small vehicle, not even tracks to make up the parts count. Like Allen I wondered about the wheels. Looks a very nice kit.

Like the look of that one Dave. Strange about the wheels though? Instructions indicate sprue N, so why bother putting in sprue O?

The instruction sheet on Scalemates has a note on page 5 below the illustrations of the sprue's to say that "Sprue O" is not used in this build !!
So its awfully kind of them to include a another set - for the spares box or a dio perhaps????
