    Sil-air 15D

Bought myself a silent compressor and must admit I'm impressed, when it kicks in it's so quiet the actual air brush is louder but getting to the bottom of the air/drain glass to blow it down after a session is a pain (minor gripe)

Looks fine. Maybe pop it on a stand and drill a large hole under the drain glass to allow access!!

Isn’t the large hole already there? I can see the carpet through it in the second picture. I would also be tempted to fit a secondary PRV at the airbrush stand to control usage air pressure. You would then just need to wind up the pressure on the compressor and only access it once to drain down when you finish the spray session. Andy has something like that illustrated in his new room thread, as do I in my room. It really makes life much easier.

Is there a drain valve under the actual tank?

You do not need to drain after every session, mine is only drained when I remember and normally there is very little water. (pause) In fact just checked it now and nothing... The time you are most likely to have a moisture problem is in high humidity or freezing conditions eg a cold shed. The poor thing needs a good dusting is about all.

I have never had any moisture in the glass/drain thing. At the end of an airbrushing session I release the pressure by removing the drain plug in the bottom of the tank. That blows out any moisture and I leave the plug out until the next time which helps keep the tank aired and dry. I do work inside so the room is always warm.

                    I can attest to this.

When working out in the shed I drained my tank every time I used it as there was always some moisture following every session.

Since moving indoors I haven't had a drop out of it.

I always have about five mil of water in the moisture trap on my pressure regulator after use, but the compressor is tankless and the PRV is where decompression happens, so that’s where it gets made and caught. I’ve only ever sprayed indoors. We’re on Somerset clay and the garage has no damp proof membrane, so if I tried to use the garage I’d need to put the bench on a rubber boat……

Like Mike ill pull the tank plug to drain it when I remember ,there's a moisture trap under the pressure gauge with a little pull down valve plus ive a moisture trap fitted directly to the airbrush(silver bullet/sparmax) but to drain out the air ive a key ring thing I pull to empty the holding tank in one big hiss.
