    Removing paint from plastic

I wish to remove some paint from a late '50s ideal vinyl plastic toy porsche. The aluminum paint is has good adhesion and is difficult to even scratch. The tires are painted black, which is an enamel, somewhat thicker film and scrapeable, but not easy to remove. I read about Chameleon but they are non responsive and never shipped my order. I have seen posts for ScaleMaster but can't locate any. Does anyone know of a safe method of removing enamel and possibly Dope from vinyl plastic.

    Thanks,

Well I am not sure if it will work for you, but I use automtive brakefluid to remove humbrol from plastic and even clear canopies without any damage what so ever.

Just soak it in the fluid for a bit and rub off with a soft rag.

Maybe it will work for you, good luck

I use a product called quickies, they are for removing nail varnish normally and can be bought at any chemist

Does nail pollish remover not usually contain some form of solvent like MEK or acetone?

This might eat away at the plastic I recon.Test on a spare piece of plastic just to make sure.
