site extremely slow

Is it just me? but at the weekend the site was down, for me anyway and now it is extremely slow and sometimes takes several goes before it responds to commands.

Hi Steve, I believe they were changing the server over the weekend so that is why the site was down. There were a few hiccups at first after changeover, but i have had no trouble with the site running slow.

I did have a few challenges with speed last night but it seems OK again now.

I noticed a slight drop last night and at one point even an site not found. Today all is well and running at full steam.

These small 'inconveniences', are in my mind a minor detail and a very low price to pay. John is trimming and tuning the forum constantly, to get every thing just right and doing it live.

Most places would shut down, just putting a message up. "Closed for maintenance try again later".

We still get to use the forum, and John has a harder job, keeping up with everything.

Could I ask that you remember this?

If things are slow, or not working as we all have come to expect, go build something, paint something or do some research on the interweb. And come back later, or suffer the lower speed while things are being maintained.

Ian I was simply asking a question then I would know if the problem was at my end, I did not expect an admonishment just the sort of answers the others indeed posted, I have always had and will continue to have the deepest respect for all the guys who run this and other forums, not sure where in my post I suggested otherwise but if I did then I apologize.

I think the server runs slow at 2am and 4am, I get emails in a morning about some services not being accessible, I think it's doing a backup

Welcome to MY world Steve - I been living with the same problems for almost 12 months now! In my case though, I know the problem is at my end. Now I'm working, maybe I'll be able to get my 'puter fixed or replaced soon.
