I use my smart phone for almost everything including this site and it doesn’t work very well. I am very disappointed.

I’ve been here 5 minutes on the new format using my phone. You get better functionality if you view in landscape (on its side). Enjoy ?

I know it’s very early but my initial thoughts aren’t positive. I suppose it will take a while to settle in and tweak stuff.

Same here Si. Really don’t know if I’m going to stay thought it would be better than this. I don’t think a week or two is going to clear this up.

I am amazed that the defeatist naysayers thought this transition was going to be any different. I’ve never yet come across an IT project like this where the company involved in supplying the technical expertise for the switch hasn’t over promised and under delivered. The switch over is going to take a significant amount of input from the admin team to make things work more or less as required. All we can do is wait for that work to go through. While that happens, look around, try things, and familiarise yourselves with this new interface.

At the moment you are in a place that feels unfamiliar and awkward, perhaps even scary to some. Stick with it. If you decide to throw your toys out of the pram and leave you will be in exactly the same situation wherever you wind up. The new site you pick will also be unfamiliar, and awkward, and perhaps scary. However, if you stay you have one big advantage. All the other members on here are currently in the same boat as you. Additionally, after interacting with them for months or years, you know them. As past experiences should have shown you, they will be only too willing to chip in and help, if you need it or not ?. If you leave, for good or ill you lose that resource. As the old saying goes, you are in danger of throwing the baby out with the bath water……

Just thinking about it probably the biggest change is you don’t land directly on the list of forums, top left there are 2 links, forums and groups, click on forums and that looks very similar to what we previously had, click in the forum and create new post or reply to one already there, forgive me if I’m wrong but that’s exactly how it used to work

A shortcut back to the home page is to click the home icon just below the site banner.

When you are viewing a thread there is a file tree below the site headline banner. It starts with a house, then a greater than sign (>) indicating the next layer (in this case “Forum”), then another greater than sign to “SMF supporters” etc.etc.

If you click the icon at the start of this file tree you will be taken to the main forum page. You can’t miss it, it’s the one shaped like a house……

YES TIM an Jim im also a bit lost but im havin a go at tryin to navigate around this new forum an for a first time im managein but i hope there will be back to full size pics when they can as im lost lookin at the thumb nails but yes i know it will take time

Stick with it Chris, it will get easier. According to something I saw on another thread, I believe picture posting has been improved recently so that problem should go away.

Something to be aware of, the word subscription appears to be used in two ways on here. The first one is what we are used to, describing the annual subs we pay to be supporters. The other is a label put on threads that you are following.
