Non-appearance Of Posts In Recent Threads Section

I have just posted a new topic on General Modelling Chat titled "Added Surface Detail". It appears there but not in Recent Threads. I have noticed this happens from time to time. Could this be fixed?

    Thanks.

You won't see your own threads unless there is a reply.

I've noticed some posts (not my own) disappear from the Forum List when I go into Recent Posts. They're usually there the next time I log on.

They also go when you have read them until they have another reply.

But they disappear before I've read them ..... in between opening the forum when I can see them and opening the Recent posts when they're no longer there.

It happens to me as well, although it's when I hit "new posts" that they disappear.

Latest acquisitions is always disappearing, it's only visible when I first enter the forum.

Here's one. Graham (Fenlander) has just posted something about odd bits you learn. I saw the post when I first opened the forum. Now I've opened Recent Posts, it's not there. But if I go back to forums, lo and behold, there it is!

There is definitely something erratic about Recent Posts. I think the topic is important because it encourages people to view a topic whose normal home a person does not visit regularly. Personally, I think it should behave just like any other post - appear immediately and disappear only when it slides off the bottom.

I thought it was just me!........It never happened before and I must confess I find it a bit annoying.

...and no, I don't know how to sort it. It would need a higher being than me to do so

Once you view a thread it won't show in new posts until it get's another reply

Because I've read it you can see that I've views this thread so it's only showing in recent posts not new posts

I'm not sure that's the issue John. I understand that having read a post means it's no longer a new post & therefore won't be visible until it gets another reply.

When I first load the site, as shown below, the "latest acquisitions" thread is visible & in bold, telling me someone has posted something.

Upon hitting the "new posts" button.... it's gone! And Adrian's thread has appeared instead! It's very odd

I have never seen the "New Posts", "New Profile Posts" and "New Media" that John's post showed:

All I have ever seen is:

So where can these be found please?

"Recent Threads" and "New Posts" are different types of things. I do feel that a recent thread should appear immediately in "Recent Threads" to alert people to it, for the reason I put into Reply No. 9 above. My experience is that this does not always happen. As for "Recent Posts", I would think that such a listing would be filling up nearly all the time and anyone looking there (assuming they can find it, as I can't) for a particular new post (in a particular topic like "Brush Painting") would have to wade through lots of other posts. It would be quicker, I think, to go straight to "The Paint Booth" > "Brush Painting". I say this because I assume that anyone looking for new material is interested in a particular topic (like "Brush Painting") rather than any old post.

Typical of Dave to try and blame it on me
