So where can these be found please?

"Recent Threads" and "New Posts" are different types of things. I do feel that a recent thread should appear immediately in "Recent Threads" to alert people to it, for the reason I put into Reply No. 9 above. My experience is that this does not always happen. As for "Recent Posts", I would think that such a listing would be filling up nearly all the time and anyone looking there (assuming they can find it, as I can't) for a particular new post (in a particular topic like "Brush Painting") would have to wade through lots of other posts. It would be quicker, I think, to go straight to "The Paint Booth" > "Brush Painting". I say this because I assume that anyone looking for new material is interested in a particular topic (like "Brush Painting") rather than any old post.
Could be because I'm not at home, so that was from my phone

Yes, at least I am.. My comment all along has has always referred to the listing that appears immediately after calling up on my browser:

            http://www.scale-models.co.uk/ **

which (at least on my computer) produces the page shown in the second image on my post (no. 14 in this thread), listing "Recent Threads" at the top. My original post in this thread (no. 1) referred to the non-appearance of a new thread in "Recent Threads" at http://www.scale-models.co.uk/ immediately it was posted. My post no. 9 above gave my reasons why I thought it should appear immediately.

The clip that Gern has on his post (no. 19) is the one at the very top of the page listed in the page marked with two asterisks. Its "Home" button produces the same page I am referring to (with the asterisks). The neighbouring button "Forums" does the same.

When either of these two buttons is pressed, a sub-menu "Recent Posts" appears which if pressed shows a list of posts. This question is different and seems to be the concern of some other members, including Gern (I Ithink).

Therefore, it seems that two types of posts are involved in this discussion: Recent Threads (my interest) and Recent Posts (Gern). Hopefully, this clarifies the confusion John mentions. The view of some of us seems to be that both should show a new entrant immediately it is posted.

(Hopefully I have got this description right.)

EDIT: Ref. my post (no 12), I can now locate the info shown in my first clip.

Not to sure what is happening but my understanding is that a NEW POST topic very quickly gets suppressed by the even newer posts, so viewing of this list changes very quickly. Recent post subjects, as I understand are those which are posted most recently...duh!

So a post, from say five minutes ago will be in the new posts and in the recent posts. As more new posts come in, it will slip out of new posts but hang in recent posts... Confused yet? I am. Lol

I must confess I don't see the reason for having them both.

Chit-chat was pulled from the list due ring the last bout of Pre Christmas toy throwing..... 'Nuff said bout that!

If agree the comments about "Recent Posts". If we drop one, I would prefer it to be that one.

EDIT: It has just occurred to me that (for me at least) "Recent Threads" could better be titled "Recently Active Threads".

There was a bout of Christmas toy throwing the Christmas before as well (or the one earlier). I missed both!

Something is a bit odd here. The "latest acquisitions" thread wasn't showing in the new posts link but when I clicked on the SMF logo for the home page it appeared. Hmmmm.
On the bench: Airfix 1/48 Sea King HC4, Revell 1/24 Trabant.
Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.
Just finished: Airfix 1/48 Stuka & Airfix 1/72 Sea King HC4.

I noticed some forums wasn't set to show I changed it so they all do, that's probably why you can see it now.
