    Waspies virus warning.

Only just seen this. I'm assuming you are referring to the thread I started.
Just to assure everyone, I use Duckduck go as a browser, it won't let me open an 'iffy' site and removes everything when I exit.
I know you're not getting at me waspie, but thought I should comment.
    Cheers
    Andy

Still getting the warnings come up Andy.
It definitely a scam - it asks me to do A Scan then takes you to a buy a copy of McAffee Anti virus!!
Considering I'm working a=on a Mac, I have stealth mode selected to supposedly no-one can see any open ports.
Now today, SMS is the only site I have been on since I ran another full virus check with ClamXAV, latest Malware and latest AV version. As well as the sites no adverts for subscribers I also operate AdGuard for Safari which should block Ads!!
Next time it pops up I think I'll ty copying the address then putting it through a shredder on Cleanmymac!!

I'm not having a go at you Andy or anybody I was just trying to warn others and understand where it coming from any why it keeps reappearing!!

I know you wasn't having a go at me I'm pis*** that it's happening on my thread. Would suggest that somehow you've picked up a little pop up somewhere that's pointing to a scam site. I spent 23 years in IT before retiring, we had the latest firewalls, virus checkers, vpn, and still had people ringing up saying their computers were infected (they wasnt). It seems that anti virus company's are always fighting a rear guard action, until a virus/bot is found they can't add it to the naughty list. Best thing to do is make sure you update your Anti virus software on a regular basis.

Hi Andy I am paranoid about AV. I thought I had my laptop well secure - apparently not. The warning only appear when I'm on SMForum so will be signing out for a while. I wasn't an IT professional but have been heavily involved since the 80's. One of my ads is a Lead software developer for a big Fintech company and he hasn't a clue about that side of the IT world.
I'm spending hours sat with my MBP running Virus Scans and Malware searches. So for a while I'm out of here.
Spent two hours on a Navy forum and a few other sites, BBC, Sky news etc. Nothing. I log on here - bang - bang - bang Virus warnings. I know they're only scams but it's annoying. For info it's a site commencing www dot mabounment dot com. No certificate, So beware buddy.

Sorry to hear that, its just odd that no one else is having the problem. Just tried Googleing the site and come up with nothing. Odd. Back in the old days we had admin rights so could do a full search and add it to the banned list.

As it doesn’t affect my mobile, I can access here instead of the laptop.
Know where you coming from with the rights and permissions thing. I used to dive into the register but Apples system is fraught with pitfalls!!

Hi, at least if not getting it on the mobile then it's not the site. Must admit that I use my mobile most of the time only using laptop for reference pics and printing them off. Back in the days when I was a sysyem administrstor you could go into the AV software and search for a particular key word, might be worth trying. Use Windows my self.

Sorry chaps but would this not be better off forum, as it is pretty much a person to person conversation?
I think we have established that the issue is not the forum or we would have had more people posting in the original pist and this one.

OK, yes you are right. Should be off forum. Sorry, didn't think of it like that.
