New posts not showing all the new posts

I just visit the forum for the first time today and hit the site via the front page http://www.scale-models.co.uk/content/

When I finally found "new posts" button I clicked on it. I see two posts only, one with a post from 6 minutes ago and one from 27 minutes ago, but NOTHING else. I know this forum is a bit busier than that, so why is it not showing me anything from before?

I've not noticed any problems with it and I've not had anyone else mention anything.

Very odd - do you happen to know what mechanism it uses to decide my "New Posts"?

It's taken from your last visit, it's stored in the database not cookies so should always be correct, unless you logged in on another device like your phone then it would clear them

          Happens to me as well.

I just popped on to see whats happening and " no new posts".

Go to todays posts and there are a good few...

It has happened to me but only after using the back button after looking at something from the What's New list. It is random and has happened probably twice in all the time I have been here. It is not related to the new format.

This happens to me all the time, I started a thread about it http://www.scale-models.co.uk/chit-chat/14052-forum-time-out.html but now follow the advice I got to use the remember me button. But when I go to the whats new button I sometimes find the new posts all gone so use the last 24 hours button to get them back. I stay logged in but seem to have been logged out and logged back in again so the new posts disappear. More an inconvenience than a problem.

              Tony.

Another thing, I logged in and started a new thread took me about fifteen mins to type it so I was happy with it, and when I tried to post it I was told by the site I couldn't as I was logged out. I didn't log myself out, so who or what did.

I have this problem to. I can log off after seen quite a few posts and then log on about an hour later and only see three, i then have to go to the last 24hr button to see them all again. I have had this problem for many months.

If you are on the site but not doing anything, even writing a post or reading a thread and not reloading the page it will mark you as inactive after 15 mins and new posts will vanish, I've changed it to 30 mins see if that helps.

Not sure that is the problem John. I logged off about 20 mins ago and came back on again, i founs some posts on there that were 5hrs old and clicked the 24hr option and found my post and a few others in there that were 5hrs old to.

Not sure why this happens, do you think its because i never really logout as such i just close the window and select the link i have saved to come back on, i never have to log in as its always open. Is this the wrong thing to do John?

Thanks John, that'll help us slower typists.

Andy I'm not sure what is wrong there, maybe the post that was 5hrs old was posted just before the timeout? Only a guess.
