    Missing 'Completed' tabs....

I posted this request about a week ago on my 'Tracker' model thread, but I reckon with new threads and builds being posted, it was missed......

John, I have noticed there are 'completed' tabs for G.Bs, SIGs, Figures and tanks, but no other sections have them.

Could you give setting up a completed on the other sections some thought. If you agree, it would keep the builds separate from the finished models.

    Thank you,

    Ron

Hi Ron, I'll have a look and see what we can find out.

Personally I cant see the need for a place for finished Diorama. There are loads and a section just for diorama would be a mish mash of everything. Normally the other types of build get a completed post in the sections relevant to the subject; Aircraft in the pictures part of the aircraft section.....and so on.

When we made the Diorama section as requested, I was under the assumption that the finished diorama would be placed in the most relevant section. Mostly Armour in the armour section, Those with aircraft in the aircraft section. Boat and ships in their section.

If John, agrees that the diorama section needs expanding, I'll sort it out and wade through the hundreds of posts and move the finished ones into their own little room.

I agree with Ian, as dioramas don't have their own forum but are part of another I think it would just dilute the current one.

I asked this question on my "High speed tractor" thread which was posted in "Military vehicles" .... there's no completed section available there so i waited a bit for instruction and then just posted the finished piccies in the thread.

I wouldn't say it was an issue but as Ron said, most other subforums have completed sections and in my opinion (right or wrong as it may be) it would be consistent to have completed sections for all forums.

Don't take this as rocking the boat but just as constructive critisism

If you go to the start page of the forum and scroll down just under the Group build section, are sections titled:

          TRAINS

          AIRCRAFT

          MILITARY VEHICLES

          CIVILIAN VEHICLES

          FIGURE MODELLING

          SHIPS AND BOATS.

Within these sections are sub sections that split them up into more specific genre. For example in the section Military Vehicles there are sub sections for; General chat, Tanks, armoured cars, Artillery (spg, anti tank anti aircraft guns etc.) Trucks, lorries, vans and cars. and last but not least, motorcycles and combos.

Although your tractor is tracked it is for all intent and purposes a truck at a pince an armoured vehicle.....?

Like wise the other sections are divided into sub sections.

So again, if its a diorama with an aircraft as the central part, then post it in the aircraft section under pictures... If its a race scene with a car and crew, Civilian vehicles - cars.

As John pointed out the forums will be to dilute and to be honest I think it will make it even harder to find things.

AS far as most other forums... We are not like them at all, and to be frank, I hope we stay that way....

Sorry Ian, I didn't expect you to "Wade through the hundreds of posts and move the finished ones into their own little room."

I just thought it a good idea to have a section in dios. where all finished models could be placed. That way folks could choose to read either the construction or the finished diorama.......or both.

Take my last diorama of the village as an example......It was once two separate threads....The build and completion..For some unknown reason, it has somehow become one, so anyone wishing to view the finished job has to fish through the last few pages to find the last set of pictures. Whereas if there was a completed button the viewer could have simply gone straight the end result.....Where I would have posted it had there been one.

I just don't understand why we can't have a completed section in dios. when, as Colin points out, other sub forums have just such a facility.....

Anyway it's no big deal and thanks also to John for considering my suggestion......

              Well that is odd.

I recall that you sent me a message and asked for the title to be to have "completed" added to it, I put it at the end of the title. You pointed out that it could not be seen at the back, so as you suggested, I moved "completed" to the front of the title,

If there was two threads, I have no idea what happened to the other one.

If we where ever to start a finished section for diorama builds, at a guess I would say that over 70% of the subjects on the build forums would need to be migrated to it. There are far more that put there model into a diorama than just build the model as a display piece. Where to draw the line between a diorama and a simple base. Many call them all a diorama.

The physical act of moving posts is only the tip of the iceberg. There are a lot of things that go, as John has pointed out to me, "tits up". Search engines, forum statistics as well. The visitor counts go down and on an advertisement financed forum, the income falls. ( you only see the adverts if you are not logged in).

So if you build a Diorama, Post the finished results in the most relevant section for completed builds.

As a happy medium I've added a title prefix that says completed

I've just re-read Ron's post, if I've read it right it's the prefix your wanting not a new forum, isn't it?

Thank you for stepping in John.....A prefix will be just fine and thanks for going to the trouble of adding it, I appreciate it.
