Don't worry Laurier, I've got my eye on a couple as186 compressors and one of them portable spray booths on eBay at the minute. These will be the only items I will be purchasing from else where just to keep the costs down, all the other items I shall be purchasing from the scale model shop.
Most of us here use this one or a variation. They are cheap Chinese and it depends on your luck how long they last as I well know. In the end providing they pump out controllable air. Hope all goes well Paul as airbrushing does make a great difference (apologies to all the hand brush painters).
I've got a Revolution CR and its a good airbrush.Im not very skilled at airbrush work.I tend to mask everything ,including camo patterns. And I use it with the standard 0.5mm nozzle.I bought a 0.3mm nozzle and needle, but can't get on with it.So if I can get good results with this airbrush, anyone can.If I was you I'd get one.
This is an incredibly good price for an eclipse and it has free shipping. Check it out
It's coming from Australia, once it comes in to the county if customs catch it, and they usually do there will be import duty and other taxes, it's not always a good deal
I wanted to replace my Sparmax 0.3mm with the Neo. But heard that Neo is not really an Iwata, I forked out a bit more for the Eclipse. I had tried the Eclipse HP-CS before, and it is a great gun... but I chose the HP-SBS (side cup version), as those with gravity cup blocks my view while spraying.
On a side note, I also have an HP-SB Plus, it is a 0.2mm for precision spray work...all I can say is, Iwata's quality is really good.
Reading all the points on airbrush sending me in spirals
I have a iwata neo but not that pleased with it, sometimes it works fine but sometimes it splutters and I end up using my assortment of brushes to complete the task ( I keep the compressor around 20psi)
What is the best airbrush to get ( don't tell the wife know but I got about £150, looked at eclipses on eBay and revolutions but is it more a preference on one over the other
I went for the eclipse in the end. Got it off eBay for £120 from spray guns direct. It's great and a lot easier to do than I expected. Im a beginner to airbrushing but can already get surprisingly fine lines. It's easy to clean aswell. I have nothing to compare it to but I'm more than happy with it. Build quality is amazing. Looks a real neat bit of kit. Hope this helps

Good on you mate. I have the eclipse HP-CS and the Iwata Hi Line HP-CH Airbrushes. However, the eclipse is my mainstay for my airbrushes.
My favourite is the HPBS. Smaller than the average brush and also has a small cup which is designed to be low level to avoid the cup impinging on line of sight.
Being smaller it gives the opportunity to get into nooks and crannies. It is an all rounder and is good at for instance at coating a large area. Equally it is most excellent for after effects weathering etc.
For use it is very well balanced as it only has a small cup. It has the advantages of all those in the Eclipse range. Comes with a .35 needle/nozzle as standard and which is probably perfect for Acrylics Vallejo Lifecolor Mig etc. Cannot tell you about enamels as I do not use them. As an optional extra it also takes from memory a .5needle.
The only thing I would criticize is the button on the trigger. But if you buy an Iwata they are all the same. Saw that one person in a tuition video had fashioned his own thing to stick on top of the button. May be me but after using an H & S, which has a very comfortable trigger top, Iwata is not so good. But then I think the Iwata Eclipse has the edge on the H & S Evolution. Just but with one exception.
Iwata are pigs to clean compared with an Harder and Steenbeck Evolution. The paint cup on the Eclispse cannot be removed for cleaning either. But nothing is prefect but think the HPBS provides a slightly smoother paint finish.
