I sometimes cheat and just use a can of camouflage grey spray paint. It's a neutral enough color and it allows other paint to adhere to it.

        Ian, Ian...

Paul, I too use rattle can primers, both grey and white. Others have used, like Steve there, a light grey paint. Humbrol 64 is a popular choice for some.

......... Get Polux on it (he's getting the big bucks!).

Mine included huge aircraft Catalina a Wellington a Wessex and an enormous Merlin. Did not include the 1/72 which also received priming. Also included all the small bits and pieces which I also prime. On my assessment 25 1/48 aircraft for a 200ml bottle. Phew that seems very good to me.

You know what you are right, now I think about it, it is probably nearer 20-25. Mind you there has been four boats in 1/35 that used quite a lot of primer...and I only build 1/35 and 1/48 scale.

Still got to be cheaper, and healthier than rattle cans.

Back to pauls question about the auto primers , I wouldnt use the cellulose ones Paul as they will eat into the plastic , personally I use halfords acrylic aerosol , as its a great finish and it saves me having to clean the airbrush (just laziness really!!) . tony

If you want an expensive primer Mr Surfacer, one of the finer grades, works well

BTW another one who uses Halfords Plastic Primer, and another one who's too lazy to want to clean an airbrush for the sake of primer!

The Halfords plastic primer is designed for plastic and sticks like you know what to a blanket

                      Cheers
