I sometimes cheat and just use a can of camouflage grey spray paint. It's a neutral enough color and it allows other paint to adhere to it.

Mine included huge aircraft Catalina a Wellington a Wessex and an enormous Merlin. Did not include the 1/72 which also received priming. Also included all the small bits and pieces which I also prime. On my assessment 25 1/48 aircraft for a 200ml bottle. Phew that seems very good to me.

Back to pauls question about the auto primers , I wouldnt use the cellulose ones Paul as they will eat into the plastic , personally I use halfords acrylic aerosol , as its a great finish and it saves me having to clean the airbrush (just laziness really!!) . tonyComment

If you want an expensive primer Mr Surfacer, one of the finer grades, works well
BTW another one who uses Halfords Plastic Primer, and another one who's too lazy to want to clean an airbrush for the sake of primer!
The Halfords plastic primer is designed for plastic and sticks like you know what to a blanket
Cheers
