Barry W introduced me to Mig Acrylics on this forum a little while ago.
I thought oh no not another lot I HAVE to try.
Well these new acrylics are superb. I have tested them in a large area using a .35 needle and a pressure about 18% (not fussy as long as it is around that range). The finish is really good. a better finish than Vallejo and a little better than Lifecolor.
Also last night used it for various weathering and shading. Vallejo is good and Lifecolor but this stuff is superb. With Lifecolor and Vallejo after thinning say 40/60 I still get clogging. Using about a pressure of 8PSI. I could not thin more as I then got the spurts even at very low PSI.
Mig Acrylic I would think I was probably on 50 % thinners at 8PSI and a .35 needle. I had a cup full which I used over a period of about an hour stopping and starting with every now and then an extended period stop now and then. Not once was there a fumble it just kept on spraying no sign of clogging ( not so with Vallejo & Lifecolor). I got as close as to near touching the model in places and this mixture performed perfectly.
Also tried it with a .2 needle. Very nice for fine detail. With Vallejo and Lifecolor I had to regularly stop to unclog. Needle out with dried paint. In the crown area of the nozzle a build up of paint. So far no such symptoms with Mig Acrylic at all. Not one clog up.
With this paint you do not need washes just make your own. Can only think that the contents are milled smaller than the other two paints. But I do think that the answer is a lot to do with the thinners. I just wonder if it may have a bit of IPA in there. It does have a health warning on the bottle NOCIVO (what ever that mean). Harmful. not for children under 10.
