    AK - True Metal Paints

Has any one any experience of these ? I am after silver for a 1/72 bi-plane.

I have Vallejo but not impressed with there metal paints as even with hand brushing they seem cloggee.

True Metal what thinners do they use ?

Are they easy to airbrush. and what is the finish like ?

Any alternatives are welcome but I am not into enamel types I read that some where.

I bought one of these last week and I've been viewing tutorials on youtube before I unleash it on my Tomcat. They can be brushed on then buffed and thinned with white spirit I believe.
On the bench: Airfix 1/48 Sea King HC4, Revell 1/24 Trabant.
Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.
Just finished: Airfix 1/48 Stuka & Airfix 1/72 Sea King HC4.

AK Have a video on their website Laurie ...... It look really easy to use. As Rick said. Brush on and buff it up ........ I have some which I'll be practicing with before I leash mine on the "Vanship" if I ever get around to building it.

I have used them on my Tiffy wheel wells. I review them on that thread. They are excellent.

Thanks on that great advice. It is for this. Any of you having used the paint would you think it suitable.

Also thinners what do you use just that my body hates turpentine types.

PS it is a model I am painting not the real thing.

My only concern Laurie is that the True Metal might look too much like true metal for the Gladiator, which was fabric painted silver rather than bare, exposed metal. I'm not really familiar with acrylic silvers though, my limited experience of them is that the pigment particles were quite visible when it dried.

Thanks Mike that is invaluable info. I am going to have a go with the Vallejo Silver. Problem I am anticipating is that it is not very good. Even with small pieces it seems to be a bit streaky. However I have not tried it with an airbrush. Must see if Lifecolor or Ak and Mig have anything.
