    Vallejo Primer From Hell !!!!

has anyone else ever had a real bad bottle of Vallejo,Primer,

this one has given me that much trouble its lucky ,it has not been binned,

oh why did ,I not get a new bottle.

I have even thinned it to the point of about 30/50,and still it will clog the needle,

of the AB,it has taken over 2 hrs to try and get the hull and turret, primed, with this

    bottle,

I don't,know if its a bad batch or and old of bottle,of it,

is there some way ,or do I email, who I got it from, and complain,??

if anyone has some help or advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated,

I got the exact same primer from John at SMS and I've always given it a good old shake first, I always put a few drops of Vallejo thinner in first but I've never had to go as low as 30/50 thinned ( I always kep a cotton tip with thinner to clean the end ( but I'm sure you know this

Now you are a seasoned modeller compared to my meagre skills and advice, but I have heard of other Vallejo primers going off from time to time ( grey primer I think )

I'm sure your supplier if he's any decency should give you a full if partial refund, possible offering you replacement?

The only other suggest is is there a blockage in your A/b ( please don't shoot me for sounding dumb)

    Kind regards

    Robert

you know I was thinking the same thing ,that it has gone off,or getting towards ,the

bottom under half, being the 200ml bottle, its just gotten very much thinker,or has gone, off

I will do that send them aa nice email, saying whats happened,

and I will get the 60ml bottles, may work out more, but never had this problem with them,

        try

        1. thinning with Windex, or

        2. thinning with Windex + two or three drops of Paint Retarder (I am using Liquitex)

It works for me, but I am living in a tropical country, so the moisture level may play a part too.

          ta Ryan,

i did try some flow improver in it,and a few drops of windex, but still just clogged the AB,

and to make things even worse than they were I,bent my needle cleaning the thing,

so I need to find some were to get cheap needles for a cheapo AB,

people say to me why don,t you use or get a good brand name AB,well thats why,

as I was taking it apart to clean in the sink,it slipped and bent the needle or my,and I had

so meany plans to get a few things primed as well,

so thats why I just use a cheapo,AB,for $22.oo but need to wait for 2 to 4 wks,

well a happy ending to this one,

the chap drop off a bottle of dark panzer gray, will do close to black,

just had to try it and after a good shake and straight from the bottle tried it out on some things

I ,have waiting in the wings to start, and was meant to be done 9hrs ago,

no problem stayed well,as you can see,

and even the chap said it must be off or a bad one,

so at the end of the day I,m happy dose not hold me up,

I use these primers most of the time but they can be troublesome at times. I have heard that as you get to about 50% of the bottle, too much shaking can cause it to permenantly thicken into a mousse like texture. I must admit, I have had days when I just could not spray the stuff and others, thankfully mostly, it works like a dream.

I have tried most thinners with it over the years and have found scream wash to be the most consistent.

You should have just sent Vallejo a message and they would have changed it Monica it may be a little late now you've thinned it but just let them know you never know they may just send you a new bottle.

it was a troublesome bottle from the start Graham, and should of done some think right away about it,

                        it did thicken,more like soup,and not a mousse,but still,

so do you still shake the bottle or not and how do you know for how long ?

and that just makes it a bit hard as to how long of a shake,as it dose Seattle to the bottom

was just a pain and in the end cost me more and I have to get a another AB,and wait,

for up to 4 wks, for it to come from HK,could try the needles but they may not fit so

I did think of that Ian,before I got to thinking why not try the chap I,got it off,and see what

he will do about it,and he did give me a new bottle so it got me out of trouble,so I

will use that one and then just use the 60ml ones, after that,

I did try to contact dragon once about missing parts and never got an answer from them about it ,

I do still shake them but quite gently. I also use an electric mixer, Trumpeter I think. This stirs it up nicely without aerating too much. Not long enough for the big bottles but fine for the smaller ones.
