    Getting Started With My Ab

I've now got almost everything, and of course I want to put it all together and get spraying. What I'm still waiting for is AB cleaner, so I'm reluctant to use paint for practice, especially after all the "keep it clean" advice.

Is it worth trying with water - maybe coloured with food dye, just to get a feel for the way the brush works? It won't be the same consistency as paint, but I'm thinking it will be better than nothing.

Have you got any methylated spirits around the house? You can use that as a cleaner for acrylics.

I do, but there would be complaints about the smell.

I did this when I was starting with an AB. Worth it to get a feel. Very easy to clean!

Windscreen wash fluid works fine to clean an airbrush with acrylic paints Tony.

I used it to clean up after spraying Klear and it worked fine (thanks Graham & Patrick!). I didn't realise you could use it with paints as well.

Thanks everyone. I suppose windscreen wash works because it contains alcohol as an anti-freeze. I'll try with coloured water for starters. Trouble is, I've been asked to work today! Damn.

If your using water based paints just flush with water in between and strip at the end of the session.

Judging by the smell of my car window cleaner it probably has enough ammonia or whatever it it to clean the gun of that's what others seem to be suggesting. I wouldn't worry too much if your not using 2 pack etc... But

Is a must have. It's brilliant and the paint comes off the needle a lot easier with it.
