    Alclad and hair spray...

OK I just had a wonder moment.

Primed and painted a kit with Alclad. Gave it some hair spray. It didn't lift the Alclad but you could see the metal pigments dancing.

    Sprayed the top paint.

All things where left to dry an appropriate amount of time.

When I started to wet the paint with water to do the chipping, every thing came off down to the primer.

Heres the wonder bit. I wonder what happened there!!!

Has any one else had this happen with Alclad and Hair spray?

Never tried it Ian and I won't be now. If I'm going to weather back to 'aluminium' I usually use an enamel or a car paint.

    Cheers

Well if my question has saved but one paint disaster then it was a worthy effort to post it.

Thinking about it the last time I weathered an Alclad base coat I had used the salt method on one and liquid mask on the other.

Hair spray will be an exclusive to Humbrol in the future for me.
