What's the benefit of having two fans?
- Double cooling fans to allow continuous work over a long period of time
In reality, the compressor only heats up when it's working, so for it to run for long enough to overheat you'd need to be using air as fast as the compressor can pump it, which isn't likely with an airbrush.

If you're a professional & using the a/b a lot of the time, OK - but spraying the basecoat on a large ( 1/32 ) aircraft won't take that long. - and if the compressor is getting hot through a high ambient temperature, then you'll be having problems with spraying paint anyway. More fans? more noise, more power used.................

I wouldn't worry too much about the compressor overheating, I've run mine for at least a couple of hours during the middle of the last heat wave and it didn't affect it in any way... it has a built in cut off so like 'stillp' Pete has already said 'unless you are using the air as quick as the compressor can compress it shouldn't be a problem..Comment

Bob you have been given a lot of good advice here, I think you are looking too deep in to it and confusing yourself, the AS186 is a good compressor and will suit you fine.Comment

You're quite correct John.
Unfortuantelly I'm like this when puschasing anything, I spent what seemed like months before I got my TV :smiling4:
Also many thanks for all the great advice guys.:thumb2:Comment

Personally I would concentrate on the airbrush, not look at the cheap ones but at least a branded entry level one, Neo or H&S UltraComment

Right. I pulled the trigger on the Fengda 186, which should be arriving tomorrow.
Just need to make myself a half-decent booth now., and study up on the paintsComment

That choice will do all you want and last for many years. Remember to drain the tank. At the end of a session release the tank pressure by removing the drain plug at the bottom of the tank. Moisture collects in the tank and if not drained can cause rust. I leave the plug out until the next airbrush session.
Enjoy it :smiling:Comment

If you didn't know, John owns the Scale Model Shop that this forum is attached to.
Earlier in the thread he said he'd match any quote.
