    Branded or Household??

I am new to airbrushing (been away from modelling scene for many years) and the use of acrylic paints. There are many branded types of paints, thinners and airbrush cleaners on the market. I have read various US threads where household items are used as paint thinning agents, cleaning aribrushes etc. I.e Windex used as thinner, clear floor acrylic liquid polish used for dipping airplane canopies etc for better shine, car screen washes. Are there any members out there that use household type products and do they work?? Look forward to a few replies

    Hi Jan,

I use screenwash to clean my airbrush between different colour paints, although I generally use a few drops of lacquer thinner to clean it properly once I'm finished spraying.

For thinning actual paint, I use the manufacturers branded product.

Like many other's, I use an acrylic floor wax as a gloss coat to seal & protect the paint. If was called Klear before, but now it's Pledge multi surface wax or something similar.

    Cheers

    Patrick
