hi just want find out if when doing a flat black scheme should i spray coat of gloss black first ????

A Gloss base may even make the adhesion of the matt coat less secure so is probably worse than doing nothing. As Ian suggests, the correct primer is the only way.Comment

As above.
Black can look awfully,well,black. Depending what you are doing you might consider spraying something almost black. I add a little red for WW2 aircraft undersides,others add green or white. Only add enough to take the edge off the black. It's really about scale and tricking the eye into believing something is bigger than it really is.

On the Lancaster I built I used Vallejo Panzer 71056 Black Grey.
Tried a couple of tests with different "blacks" & as Steve says it looked awful full on black stark & unreal. In fact in real scale black soon tones down.
Really pleased with the Lancaster black grey it looked lived in.
