I have just returned to modelling, wartime aircraft, for the first time since my youth and I am now 55. This thread has been massively helpful. Thank you.

Great set of rules from your Dad.
Always have a brew not far from my elbo, even two hours old and cold as a corpse it is still drinkable.

Whats the best practice regarding brush painting with masking tape ie a ships boot topping?

        Thanks bob
Not ships topping, but if I have to use masking tape I first run a length our onto a piece of thick glass and then cut a width that will mask and use the cut edge of the tape next to where I want to paint and not the edge of the tape. You do not need to use the full width of the tape, just enough to allow you an edge.

Glad this thread is of some use chaps and i really do appreciate the feedback. :thumb2:

But as I wrote in the opening few words, can folks post their own method of doing things on a separate thread please.

Otherwise this will get clogged up.
Sorry to be a miserable old fart, but it would keep things simpler for the reader.

          Cheers.
