    Alclad II - first try

    Hey all,

This is my first proper stab at trying to get decent natural metal finish. Yes, the Porter was painted with Alclad, but this time I decided to do the whole "polished gloss black base coat" trip as well.

I also tried rubbing on some gilding paste (right ailerons), but it didn't come out as planned.

The left wing is untouched though.

It looks good to me. I do like using the Alclads for my metal finishes. I think it is quite easy to use and quite convincing, the latter point which you have demonstrated quite nicely for us

    Cheers

Everyone's a bit nervous about Alclad on their first attempt, but then we realise it's actually quite easy to use.

I've used the polish on a larger model, it took forever to do, but was a lot cheaper than using Alclad.

You said it didn't come out as planned but it looks good to me. Like Colin the polish can take a while to apply but it gives a great finish.

                  Hey guys,

Here's a short update. I covered the Alclad with a local equivalent of Future and left it for a day or so. The anti-glare panel seems a bit dark in the picture, but it's actually better in real life. There's also a slightly red tinge to the fuselage - it's actually just the sun coming through my curtains ;-)

                  So now it's decals time...

Looks very nice and I think you have got a great finish Quintin.
