Not much help but this may make sense to you, I took it from one of the many sites out there

"Well, this is official Tardis blue color. The BBC approved Tardis blue is actually Pantone 2955C".

There you go then, there is an official paint for Dr Who's Tardis. I would have thought it would have been just plain old Police Blue.

Having done a little more digging it appears that it's actually a purple in real life when you see it and its just the TV images that make it blue according to several sources. The actual blue has changed over the years along with cosmetic changes like the Police sign on the front changing in size and the lettering on the sign, presently its black on white but it has been blue writing on a white background but even white on a black background,

So I guess it all depends on which era you wish to paint the old blue box

It would make sense being a police box

I would go for deep Prussian blue then a dry brush of Prussian blue over the top to bring out the wood grain.

Oh and I think it was ment to be Oak wood

ta guys, mmmmmmm it is a bit of a tricky one as said Adrian, it has changed with each doc,

well what it is for i got the airfix kit Welcome abound,or should i say waiting for it to arrive,

and it says just number 25

Pantone 2955C will try and dig into that a little as well,

The first Dr Who was shown in the early sixties (1963 I think). The reason the Tardis looks like a police phone box is because it's camouflage system is broken. The Dr says something like 'it's chameleon circuit is broken'. It would be reasonable to assume that the Tardis was attempting to hide by replicating a contemporary, that is late fifties/early sixties, police box.

I'm not an expert on police boxes, but I'm certainly old enough to remember them. I was one of the small boys on the bus to school 'exterminating' all the girls and the conductress I don't remember them as being a very dark blue, more a mid blue, but memory is fallible.

Whether the BBC accurately matched the actual colour or went with one that looked good on the then rather primitive black and white television cameras would be another point to consider.

                Cheers

I am pretty sure our local one was in fact black! I do know that it was very hand when it was chucking it down with rain. :-)

As the latest Dr Who is a Glaswegian why not paint it red like they sometimes were in the second city of the Empire?

I'll have you know Dr. Who comes from Gallifrey; Alex Salmond can try a land-grab for his country, but he can't have another planet to go with it.

Did they differ in colour between the various Constabularies?

The one above is something like I remember, maybe a bit too light, for the Oxfordshire Constabulary. Where's inspector Morse when you need him?

                          Cheers

You could be right, however this is an original Hull Constabulary Box from the 50's-60's.

Also posting the photo's tends to alter the shades somewhat!

So Birmingham blue then, as the second city is
