    Mixing your own paint

Does anyone here mix their own paint? I've tried mixing colours a few times and it has worked fine, but is it a good idea?

I do for gun metal and oil paints , it only works if you mix the same makes ive found if you mix humbrol and revell they tend to flake off when dry

I mix mine all the time, mainly to produce scale colours - for instance using olive drab on a 1/72 Sherman would look way too dark.

As Alan said, it's best to mix paints from the same manufacturer & never mix oil-based with acrylic!

Although you can mix oils with enamels (it reduces drying time!)

Yeah, I mix my paint. As Alan had said make sure they're by the same maker before mixing. I only use Tamiya paint. ;-) I would also get out a color wheel to make sure you're going to get the correct type of paint from mixing them. I see you're British because you spell color, colour ;-) lol
