Glass headlights. How to paint ?

Have a couple of headlights and mirrors to paint on the Landrover. The lights and mirrors have been painted in with the body colour.

Not come across this one before. How do I do that ? Any ideas gratefully received.

This is 1/48 scale so they are small about 3.4mm diameter.

The mirrors could be done chrome silver with a gloss coat & the headlights maybe a small piece of clear sprue polished to look like the real thing?

My latest attempt has been to paint the 'glass' with silver and then run a diluted white paint wash over the silver, it collects in different places giving it a 'reflector' look, then gloss.

In the past I have placed the light pointing vertical and applied a drop of super glue Gel with the tip of a cocktail stick,,,,, this gives a clear glossy lens. Derek

Thanks Derek. Got a lot of ideas. All stored for the future.

I think it was Tony (Yak face) who suggested using the shiny silver tape folks use at Christmas for wrapping presents. I think he also mentioned sequins (you know how much time he spends at the ladies' counter in his local pound shop!)

Failing that, you may be able to use some ordinary silver foil. The inner bags in Ritz crackers are made from a thick foil which is much better than the normal kitchen foil. Try an ordinary office hole punch - that may give you circles about the right size.

Bare metal foil for the mirrors and I've found if you paint the back of the lens white it gives a convincing result
