Neo For Iwata CN - Happy Chappy

Had permission from SHMBO to ‘upgrade’ the airbrush that camE free with my compressor so just went for an Neo/Iwata CN to start with ( had to be better than what I already have). Used it anger for the first time last night and WOW what a difference. No more clunky feedback on the trigger, clogging paint or nightmares in cleaning. This brush also operates at a lot lower air pressure (anywhere between 10 and 20 psi) where as with the freebie I could never go below 22ish psi, and of course that meant the paint was getting blasted out and at times moved the paint more than fixing it to the model surface, can also get nice thin lines. My son used it to spray the cockpit framework of the hurricane 1/24 build he is doing ( an advert for not how to join things together – kit showing its age, but that’s a different story), Tamiya paint went on like a dream. Gave the brush a good clean last night so test will be how it works in a few days. So far so good and well impressed with it.

Oh, changed the nozzle for a crown one ( read an article on how to supercharge the brush), ordered the crown from Scale Model shops arrived next day big thumbs up on that one !!

Just proves something about these package deals.

Yes the crown on the front of the nozzle is a great addition especially when the brush is virtually on the face of the object. Stops, mostly, spitting.

All model makers are at their happiest when their airbrush is working.

There is only one Neo that I know of Barry. This is an airbrush made outside of the Iwata empire but badged and offered under the Iwata name as a starter brush.

Barry what paint are you using. What thinners or other additives are you using ?

The crown nozzle is an Iwata product available from Iwata dealers.

Regret I am not a Tamiya user so not much help Barry in that respect. I would give the airbrush a deep clean to see if that solves the question. I would guess there is some sort of clogging around the nozzle. Mke sure the crown in front of the nozzle is also clean and free of paint. Also noticed with spitting that if the paint is a bit to well thinned (or pressure to high) paint builds around the crown and is then pushed off as a little drop by the air/paint mixture thro the nozzle.

unreal - that the crown stops all the crap, also heard that by cutting a couple of the flanges off it works even better, but leaving mine as is !!
