Camo query

I'm a bit flummoxed as to how to paint the camo on a 48 scale Eduard Bf 110G-2.


I've sprayed the underside with RLM 76 and now...Duh!


I can mask off the bottom of the wings and tailplane easily enough, but then what?


I'm thinking an overall coat of RLM 75 for the upper surfaces, then mask the splinter pattern and shoot RLM 74. Then tackle the mottling for both colours (I just hope I can keep the 'line' in the approximate middle of the fuselage and not bleed too far onto the 76)


Or would it be better to mottle the 75 before applying the 74? (I don't think so but I'm open to suggestions)

I always apply the 76 first followed by the lighter of the two camouflage colours, 75, and then the 74. I apply the mottling after everything else. That's just my sequence, and my only qualification is that I do make quite a few Luftwaffe aircraft

Yep. Follow what Steve said. Start with the lighter colour, then work up with the darker shades, as this will help with paint coverage, as the darker paint will cover better over a lighter paint.

Further Thinking.


Due to the band of RLM 76 on the fuselage above the wings, I'm anticipating a two stage effort.


Stage 1: Mask off fuselage at wing roots and the lower wing areas and complete splinter camo on top of wings/tailplane...then


Stage 2: un-mask fuselage and mask top of wings/tailplane and spray 75 on fuselage, mask and spray 74. Un-mask fuselage completely and spray mottling (RLM 75 then 74)


Sound like a plan?
