Vallejo primer

My goodness me! I have had some problems with my Vallejo primer just recently but have just had a little session after initially priming my me262 doing another sanding and filling session.


I feel that I had cleaned it ok since my last session and no different to usual but if I had spent another five minutes on it tonight I probably would have finished priming the jet in the garden with a sledge hammer!


It's been difficult to rub down even after 24hrs and just spraying really inconsistently.


Someone please confirm that this new badger styrenyze or whatever it's called that a few of you have been trying is the new sliced bread and is definitely worth the change.... Please!

Don't know about the new Badger stuff.I use Alclad filler primer and think it's the dogs.

It is the new primer which so far have not found any problems in use. sanded it after 2 hours and no problems at all.


Used Vallejo primer up to now. Provided you respect it. Wet and dry wet the surface of the plastic. Wait 48 hours to cure if


you are going to sand. Then use wet and dry wet very gently. Best not to use a dry sand paper. The paint is effectively a


plastic sheet and needs curing otherwise you will tear lumps form the sheet.

Can I ask if you used the Grey colour (light) one?


It always give me problems and don't work very well....


Vallejo has an excellent different range of primers colours, but the best one (never I had problems with it, and the finish result is excellent) is the German Grey!

As I said the german grey is great. If you prefer a light colour you can add/mix some light grey colour (not necessary primer), and 2 or 3 drops of varnish if you need a more resistant base coat

Used Grey mostly over a period of 6 years as at one time only grey was available.


Not had any problems at all during that period Polux. The present bottle is probably


2 years old and works perfectly. are you sure you do not have a duff bottle.


With the primers the best, I found, is to mist coat, not to thin, with 20% Vallejo thinners.


Then after an hour spray a full coat. The mist coat dry quickly and forms a good bond


with the plastic. The following coat then has its own to stick to.


That regime has always worked. But do try this new primer as it is revolutionary.

I have 2 bottles of this stuff, the green one works ok, the grey (well, as near white as makes no odds ;-)) one isn't fit for purpose, so that was £10 totally wasted. Consequently, I now use this


perfect finish every time, the perfect neutral grey and sands well, should you need to - I never have, I just tried it to see! £4.08 - about 60p per model so far!
