Revell aqua colour mix curdling aqua colour.

Hi, has anyone else had problems with the Revell aqua colour mix curdling aqua colour? It's really weird, as soon as I add the mix to the colour it curdles and won't mix up no matter what I try. The mix was a little old perhaps. I now only use Tamiya acrylic thinner in these paints.


I've looked online and it seems I'm not the only one, perhaps it's a batch problem?

If so you can thin revell Aqua with water without a problem I do it all the time

I haven't tried this because I don't use Revell Aqua, but it would make sense to try this too Del if you're having trouble, considering that it is a water based paint

Yer, they do a colour mix and a colour clean. One obviously a thinner the other an air brush cleaner. The Tamiya thinner seems to do a good job for me.

ive always used tap water...........im surprised tamiya thinners works to be honest since tamiya is not a water based acrylic as i remember

I dunno, I tried it and it seems to work really well, I get good even coverage of the paint and minimal clogging.


I knew I'd seen a reference to it before.

If you've found something that works carry on , the only thing I will say is water out the tap is free

I use revell aqua and colour mix regularly in fact I have uesd it to paint Dora and I have never had an issue at all.........weird.

Actually the solution to this problem is quite simple ... junk the acrylics & use lovely enamels! :P

I am just asking myself. Now who was it. Who could it have been.


No really. Him. Said he was using Vallejo. Something about impressed.


Perhaps it was a figment of my imagination or even a nightmare scenario.


I am uncertain who it was now. I know he wrote in an apologetic manner


about using acrylics.


I wish I could remember who it was. Sure it will come to me o_O

This may seem a silly suggestion, but have you stirred the paint and the colour mix enough before putting them together?

Well I gave the colour mix a shake. I don't recall giving the paint a thorough stir but I certainly gave it a twirl first. But even then they don't curdle when using Tamiya X-20A and I'm doing the same with both.


I did make the mistake of pouring some paint into my air brush then adding the thinner. Took ages to clean the darned thing. As I say, not a huge problem as I get good results from the Tamiya thinner.
