    stripping acrylic paint?

I have a model railway wagon that I bought cheap because the owner botched the weathering how's best to strip the acrylic paint off it please?

A lot depends on the age of the paint Dave & the paint used - both of which you'll not know I guess.

There are 2 ways of doing it from my experience

    1) use something like Daisy All Purpose Cleaner. I get mine from Tesco. It's a mild solution, best for softer plastics, but the downside is it can take a while to work - keep it fully immersed & check the progress every 48 hours. Some scrubbing with a toothbrush might be needed.

    2) oven cleaner. Any brand works, I use the Poundshop stuff. It's smelly, so I pop the model into a plastic box spray it liberally, put the lid on & wait. Usually it's done by the morning.

Some people use brake fluid, but because that's very toxic it's not something I've tried myself.

    Cheers

Tamiya thinners work a treat. Although rather expensive for a complete model. Usually works within an hour or so.

Mr muscle oven cleaner spray the item and seal it in a bag for 1 hour, then use an old tooth brush and lightly scrub under cold water. I've used this on a few occasions and it works a treat.
