    Thinning paint colour density

Hi guys. I want to thin some Tamiya paint so that the colour becomes almost transparent. I could do this with thinner but I suspect it would be rather fragile. Is there any reason why I can't mix the paint with their clear varnish? That should dilute the colour without diluting the paint maybe?

Yes i would do that dave , to thin to the point of being very transparent would make the paint virtually unusable as the pigments will seperate

There is also the option of using Acrylic glazing medium, basically the carrier for the pigment. This works well and is used in figure painting a lot. Games Workshop do one in their usual small pots but I cannot remember the silly name they give it.

I've got some of that made by Vallejo. Not sure if it would mix with Tamiya paints but I'll give it a go if the clear varnish doesn't do what I want.
