The Army Painter Quickshade and Paints

Hi guys n girls I was wondering if any of you have used any Army Painter products as I have a specific interest in the Quickshade (strong) quick dip for figures product to be used on figures up to and including 1/35 scale.

In my opinion £16.99 per tin seems rather expensive I was wondering if this tin of Ronseal would do much of the thing at a fraction of the cost and in greater quantities.

Any help info advice experience opinions feedback or guidance greatly appreciated.

    Cheers John

Try it! My guess is that it'll need thinning, but there's only one way to find out...

Never used it John, but like John says, give it a whirl ( on a practice piece of cause ) and then let us all know

one thing to bear in mind, any fabric - i.e. uniforms, clothing etc need to be as matt as it gets!

Well folks I've bit the bullet and purchased the army painter Quickshade at £17.99 for 250ml (liquid gold).

I'll let you all know how I get on with it.

Thanks for your comments and advice/help.

I come late to this thread, but it seems to me that the 'Quickshade' product is just a tinted varnish. Surely anyone could tint their own matte varnish to suit with a little experimentation.

              Cheers

Yep Steve better late the never

But surely varnish tinted with colour wouldn't have the same "magical" properties of the the "real" thing.

It's ordered now so to late for experiments I'll do a little review on it once it arrives via securicor.

I also have a rusty tin of varnish in the shed so I could give the experimental one ago I suppose but what paint acrylic or enamel ?
