I presume you use this like a pipette? put your finger over the top and not in the mouth like a drinking straw.

A drinking straw is okay, definitely with a finger over the end, but I use pipettes. I bought a box of 500 several years ago for the princely sum of £12.50 and am even now barely a quarter of the way down the box. I treat them as disposable, though I will use the same one more than once for the same colour etc., as they cost about 2.5p each.
