Mr. Color paints

I'm considering tying this brand and wondering if isopropyl alcohol can be used to thin them (I'm a cheapskate, and if at all possible will at least try for a cheaper product rather than pay for branded thinners I've just got 5 ltrs for £12) or do I need another type of thinner?

Tom you can use IPA to thin Mr Color paints, although they really prefer cellulose thinners.

If you're looking at the Gunze range, try the Mr Hobby Aqueous paints. They're the acrylic version of Mr Color & can be thinned with their own thinner, Tamiya X-20 & IPA. For an even smoother finish, they also thin very well with cellulose thinner - but that's quite a smelly option!

what a waist of alcohol I prefer to drink IPA even tho I do not drink alcohol tried it once did not like IPA

James there not on about India pale ale you wouldn't want to drink the IPA we use as thinners (Iso Propyol Alcohol)

The Mr Color paints are arguably the best paints around. They spray amazingly. The Mr Hobby acqueous is also arguably the best acrylic paint for airbrushing. Mr Color is lacquer and should be thinned with cellulose/lacquer thinner. Mr Hobby acqueous requires IPA or tamiya's thinner

I tried Mr Color for the first time the other day, I thinned it 50/50 and it sprayed really nice, I used a similar colour from the Tamiya spray cans which are also lacquer and you couldn't tell them apart, the only difference was the price, £2 vs £7, I know you get more in a can but I think that you waste a lot more when not using an airbrush
