I don't normally prime my kits but have decided to start to try and give my builds a better finish. I have just sprayed my leopard tank with a can. It's by a company called "streetwise". I am just pleased I sprayed it in the workshop at work. I have never used such a smelly primer and I used to spray cars. It sprayed nice and gave a nice finish. Is there any rattle can primers that are fairly low odour?

I don't know what paint system you use, but for my Tamiya lacquers TS range I use Tamiya Fine Surface Primer ("for plastic and metal"). It covers well and gives a very uniform matt finish. It doesn't smell too much. A quick spray in my garage is mostly gone after about an hour. £4.99 for 100 ml spray can. 180 ml size also available.
I also use Halford's primer (grey but probably also available in a few other colours). Also very good, and I know from experience it sticks like you-know-what.Comment

Halford's acrylic primer is the best in my opinion. Quick drying, not much odour and a very good base for a wide range of finishes.

I used to go into my cellar to do this, or if it was dry and calm, out in the garden! It really does stink, but the finish is superb. I've since been converted to Stynylrez, which, for my money, is the first primer that is as good as the rattlecan stuff, without the smell and ridiculous wastage!Comment
