Humbrol do a brush on liquid mask, I haven't used it on scale models but I have used it on polycarbonate rc car shells before and It was quite successful

That would be Maskol and yes it has it's uses but be careful. It contain ammonia and will eat into certain varnishes like Klear

B & Q were advertising a masking tape which had an edge which did not allow (?) paint to flow under it. That of course is the idea of all masking tapes but this one supposedly is better at it.

I found four rolls of 24mm x 12m decorator's tape in a pack at my local poundshop. I don't use it for fine masking but it works well for 'filling in' behind the thinner, better Tamiya tape I use and for larger stuff where a precise edge is not critical ('boot' lines on ship's hulls for example). It's also very useful for holding bits together while test fitting and/or waiting for glue to set.
