    Too many layers

I've been trying to get the right colour of something I'm painting. In the process I've done too many layers resulting in the surface to become shiny and smooth which isn't what I wanted. What can I do to get rid of the shine........... badly messed it up.

    Try matt varnish.

Agree with Ralph, apply matt varnish.
Worst case scenario cellulose thinner on a cotton bud and remove the paint in the affected area and do them again, but matt varnish normally work really well in those cases.

What are you painting, and how much of it is too shiny?

Tried it, I messed it up badly. Was something I made for a diorama. In the end I just scrapped the paint off and redid it. Lesson learnt.. Cheers for the tips though.

These are great for dulling down shiny areas such as paintwork, they can by cut so that they get into tight corners etc.
