Thinning spray paints

I am very new to modelling and have a metal car I want to spray using the colour from a Halfords spray can, as it matches the exact colour I want to use. However I would like to airbrush this on. Will I need to thin the paint and if so by how much and what is the best thinner to use.

I think that you will be OK without thinning it. It is a spray paint so should be ready right out the can.
The fun part is getting it out of the spray can and into the airbrush.
Shake the rattle can well and if you can, put a tube on the nozzle, (WD40 nozzles accept a thin plastic tube, some spray cans can accept a nozzle from WD40.....
Anyhow. once you have decanted some paint into a bottle, let is stand so that the propellant gasses can escape from the paint. Not sure how long that takes.
Oh! I suggest that you decant it out in the garden as it can get a bit messy. :-)

and wear a respirator/glasses if you can

why do you want to air brush it? i often use rattle cars to spray car kits and not had problems if you are careful
