    Having trouble with RAL colours

    Hi Guys,

I'm wanting to paint my current build (Flakpanzer Gepard) in a German 3 tone desert scheme. The paint call out is for

German Sand Brown Ammo Mig Jimenez A.MIG-026
German Sand Beige Ammo Mig Jimenez A.MIG-027
German Grey Beige Ammo Mig Jimenez A.MIG-028

I usually use Tamiya paints so I've been looking for conversions. However none of the charts seem to have this, so instead I've been looking at the RAL numbers, and this is where it gets confusing.

The Ammo paints class both Sand Brown and Sand Beige as RAL 8031 F9, although they are sold as two different colours. According to Wiki, the Sand Beige should actually be RAL1039.

However I'm struggling now to find any conversion or mix details between RAL and Tamiya. Does anyone have any ideas, or should I just buy Mig's paint?

    Cheers,

    B

I had a look Bob and it's a really messy topic! Seems AK made a boo-boo with their numbering. And you're not alone Bob, but hoping this may help you:

Failing that helping you, try converting the relevant Vallejo (or other selected brand) paints back to Tamiya, using the RAL number as a basis.
