Which Tamiya Mini Acrylic to use for slate roofs?

Can anybody please suggest from their own experience which Tamiya acrylic colour straight out of the pot is the nearest to a typical English slate roof ?

I'd go for XF75 IJN Gray, XF77 IJN Gray Sasebo Arsenal or XF82 Ocean Grey. Maybe with a tadj of XF69 Nato Black or XF85 Rubber Black.

        Hi Norman
I concur with XF 24 if you must have Tamiya. However, I would use Winsor and Newton Galeria acrylic Payne’s grey from choice. The pigment in that is powdered slate....and remember slate varies in colour depending on where it comes from.

          Hi, Norman.
Keep in mind a slate roof can have varying shades of grey in it due to slight changes in the composition of the material and general weathering. Also, any lead flashing on it will cause light grey streaking due to rain falls.

As Tim points out, slate shades (even colour) varies from source to source. A single roof can have different shades of slates, particularly if a large repair has been undertaken using 'new' slates.

Personally, I wouldn't be fussy about exact colouring. There are too many variables to consider....and a slate roof completely the same shade wouldn't look right anyway.
