    Herbie colour

Can anyone help me? I am trying to find paint the colour of "Herbie" Disney's film about a vw beetle, I have a 1/24th tamiya 1960's beetle kit that I have the idea for, I have tried tamiya, Embrol, Revell paints, but i can't for the life of me find the correct paint or find something close to it.. can not even auto motive paint in this colour.. I have researched, it was a pearl white that vw made at the time but no longer in production.

Gareth - the paint code appears to be VW-Audi L87 pearlweiss

there are a couple of options

    Model paint

this is a pre mixed model colour

or you can get car aerosols mixed to order by using the L87 paint code

    Mixed to order

this is one such place but an internet search will throw up loads of paint places that can custom mix to a paint code

Simplest would be the correct car paint, I think. With a bit of luck you can simply get that in an off-the-shelf spraying can from a car paint supplier, or like Simon says, have it mixed for you.

Also try zeropaints on the Hiroboy web site. Hiroboy specialise in automotive kits and stock the correct colours for modelling. They actually do a Herbie paint colour. It will require spraying from an airbrush though, and a gloss topcoat to finish.
        Cheers

Edit, just realised this is SimonT’s link, so mine is old news......
