    What satin varnish is recommended?

    Hello,
I'm looking for a good satin varnish to finish some future aircraft models.
I prefer acrylics and would like to spray them with the airbrush...

    What would you recommend?
    Many thanks
    Cheers,
    Steven

technically speaking Tamiya's are acrylics as well. I use the X-22 clear. But I reckon you want non smelly ones ey :tongue-out3: . I heard good things about Ammo by Mig's Lucky varnishes but haven't tried them myself.

Windsor & Newton Galeria matt varnish sprays beautifully straight from the jar, and doesn't smell much, so I reckon their satin would probably be good.

        Hi Steven
I like Xtracrylix satin from Hannants. It's acrylic, water based and sprays nicely if dilute a little with water. It does need to be thoroughly stirred.
I have heard good things about VMS varnish. I have only tried their Matt which is very good. John sells it.

            Steven,
I use MIG 'lucky' satin varnish and slightly watered down and you might want to take off the tip of the airbrush. And for a good matt AK ultra matte varnish.
            Cheers, Mike

+1 for me too. I use both their matt and satin varnishes. Both give excellent results and are easy to brush or airbrush on.

Vallejo acrylic but they do 3 types. The best is Acrylic Polyurethene.
Gives a very nice smooth finish. Takes a little longer to cure than the acrylic type but it is superior.

The Tamiya Semi Gloss is even better.
