    Spitfire Mk.IXc colours

Just thinking of doing a Spitfire build this year. Yes i know. Something different from German aircraft. Truly a red letter moment lol.

    Trying to convert the Revell numbers and getting a total different range of colours. I would like to use Tamiya XF range. So far i have;

    Revell 43 - Medium sea Grey - XF19 or 66
    Revell 59 - Sky Blue Matt - XF 20 or 21
    Revell 68 - Dark Green Matt - XF61
    Revell 77 - Dusty Grey Matt - XF 24 or 63

    Any advance on these?

I have just looked at my paint converter.
And I have come up with this.
    Medium grey xf19
    Sky xf21
    Dark green xf26
    Dusty grey matt xf24
Which is pretty much what I use on my spits

Alan why not just ignore the colour designations in the instructions and just go for the appropriate colours from whatever brand of paint you use.

      RAF Grey Green cockpit
      RAF Medium Sea Grey underside
RAF Ocean Grey and RAF Dark Green top camo.

Most brands have the actual colours in the range. Colour call outs in instructions, at least for the main exterior colours, can pretty much be ignored other than to note the scheme.

I stopped using colour comparison charts many years ago.

Tamiya has RAF colours in its range nowadays.

        XF-81 Dark green 2 (RAF)
        XF-82 Ocean gray 2 (RAF)
XF-83 Medium sea gray 2 (RAF)

Not bought a Tamiya pot for years, so didn't know they did them. Cheers Jakko

I've got the Tamiya Spitfire and before I started it I wanted the right paints, fortunately Vallejo do I RAF daytime colour set which incorporates all colours I need (and I don't have to fish about for individual paints)
