    Using masking fluid

Good morning from a sunny Cardiff ( for once )

Just started using masking fluid for the first time. What do you clean the brush in????

The Mr Hobby bottle is of course in Japanese, of which I know bugger all lol

I usually use white spirit or IPA and then rinse the brush in soapy water to get rid of the chemicals.

Here's the website Bob, pick your masking fluid for details. If it's Mr Masking Sol R then it's water soluble, you can clean your brush accordingly.

I use Humbrol liquid mask. Only used a brush once, too much faff cleaning brush, (IPA followed by washing up liquid the rinse).
Now I simply use a cocktail stick and stuff the cleaning!!!!

I use the one from Vallejo and 'IF' you can get it before it dries washes out with water. Otherwise my cureall go to: Xylene, it'll get the stripes of a Zebra! Not yet found a paintbrush it cant clean!

Like Doug, I find a cocktail stick far better to apply mask with. You can put on a small blob and push it where you want. Great for along edges and into corners.

Small brush and a cocktail stick as Jim says Bob.

Sunny , stand by for rain then :nerd:

Hiya, not sure of the Mr hobby stuff but I use Vallejo and applied with a brush first time used it. Messed up brush so now I apply with cocktail sticks as find can be more accurate and no worries about clean-up.

Used Mr color and very impressed, brush easy to clean with water and peeled off with pointy tweezers.

My favourite is Microscale Micro Mask. Brushes clean with water.

I agree with davecov, I've had some good results with Microscale masking.

A while ago, I brought a small sonic cleaner, the type of thing for cleaning jewellery.

I rinse the brush and dip it into the water in the cleaner and give it a few seconds, you can see the brush actually cleaning.

I look after all my brushes by cleaning them with brush restorer which is lower sodium soap.

                              Watto.
