Weathering problems

Trying, and it is, to weather my 1/48 Swordfish my first go at weathering.

Got the tail plane OK for me that is. But the wings are giving me great problems. Using Flory's stuff in wet form.

The tail plane has very raised ribs which helped when removing the unwanted wash with a slightly damp tissue. Left good streaks in the crease of the rib. Does not show well on the photo as the lighting has removed a lot of detail.

On the wings. They have ribs but these are not accentuated as the tail plane so not very good reults. Any ideas on how you would tackle. Trying to get weathering into the sides of the ribs with the centre part between the ribs clean.

Now got Vallejo washes has any body used these & how do you use them. Can they dry & then you remove as in the Flory technique ?

to get that effect I myself would just stick to my favorite method of thinned acrylic paint (black and mid brown) applied with a fine brush using a cotton bud to blend where needed.
